About the Studio

How the Studio Came to Be

Rick holds a Bachelor of Music Education with a vocal performance emphasis from Wartburg College and spent several years teaching vocal music at the junior high and high school levels in southern and central Iowa. He's been teaching private lessons — on and off — for almost 36 years. His current day job is as a QA Manager in the software industry.

Sheryl holds a Bachelor of Music in euphonium performance from the University of Massachusetts and has taught marching band and private lessons at the high school and college levels. She currently teaches special education at Urbandale High School and manages all scheduling and parent communications for the studio.

The Studio

Lessons are held in a dedicated studio space at the Powell home in Clive, Iowa. All lessons are video-recorded. Pets are put away during lessons — let us know if allergies are a concern.

Rick teaches evenings Monday through Friday and Sunday afternoons. Saturday is not available.
