What Makes Us Different ↓

Students Learn More Than Songs

Most piano students learn to play what is placed in front of them. At Powell Music Studio, students are taught to understand music, recognize patterns, play by ear, and become more independent over time.

🎹

Technique

Students build physical confidence at the keyboard from the very first lesson through scales, hand position, coordination exercises, and warmups that grow with them.

πŸ“–

Reading

Students learn to read music by recognizing patterns, structure, movement, and musical ideas β€” not just by decoding one note at a time.

πŸ‘‚

Ear Training

Every piano lesson includes time for playing by ear, helping students hear music in their head, find it on the piano, and eventually add chords without relying only on sheet music.

Piano, Voice, and Both Together

Students can study piano, voice, or both. The goal is the same: confident students who understand what they are doing, not just students who can repeat what they have been shown.

🎹

Piano Lessons

Ages 7 and up. Lessons combine technique, reading, and ear training so students build confidence quickly and learn to approach music as something they can understand.

🎀

Voice Lessons

Ages 10 and up. Students develop breath support, register coordination, healthy tone, and repertoire skills while learning how their voice works.

🎡

Piano + Voice

Students who take both develop a shared musical language across singing and playing: form, phrasing, pitch, harmony, and structure start to connect.
